Stephen Haigh Buildings Archaeologist MA (York)
I am a specialist in the investigation and recording of historic buildings and since 1996 have acted as an independent consultant to the heritage sector and property developers, principally in the north of England, though I will consider work in all areas of the country.

Most commissions arise from planning applications or conditions, through the management of the historic environment, or from property owners who simply have an interest in the history of their buildings.
I have a varied workload but typical examples are:
  • recording barns before conversion
  • researching the history of buildings to identify elements for retention, during development
  • producing heritage assessments in accordance with the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework
  • investigating industrial buildings before demolition
  • photographing ancient monuments during consolidation
Based in Silsden, West Yorkshire (not far from the Lancashire border), I offer a flexible response dictated by the needs of each particular project.  My fees are reasonable and do not attract VAT.

Enquiries about new projects are always welcome.
